Grand Designs - Residential Restoration
The Stokesley Architectural Joinery team will steal its 15 minutes of fame later this year after being selected to work on a project being filmed for Channel 4's Grand Designs.
The programme will feature a privately-owned residential conversion in Northumberland, and involves the restoration of an old milner's cottage, bringing it into the present day with a contemporary design of zinc, glass and steel balanced with rustic wooden features to compliment the wider design.
Initially contracted to manufacture all the windows throughout the property, Stokesley Architectural Joinery created a range of windows to fit with the period of the property as well as encompassing all the modern expectations such as double glazing, security and weather resistance.
Working closely with the property owner and his architect, Mr Kendrew and the Stokesley team were able to provided invaluable advice on suitable wood types for durability, aesthetics and many other considerations.
Impressed with the workmanship and quality of Stokesley Architectural Joinery work on the property's windows, the owner further contracted the company to produce all of the external fittings.
